All About our Pre-school Gymnastics Program
WHY DO I WANT TO ENROLL MY CHILD IN PRE-SCHOOL GYMNASTICS?
Gymnastics is fun and fundamental for developing better kids! Children have their greatest learning years between the ages of two to seven. Trying new experiences is the best way to learn. Each week we challenge your child with colors, numbers, shapes and directions to accomplish skills and tasks that teach them about life. Pre-school gymnastics develops skills for athletics such as coordination
and strength as well as pre-reading skills and sequence training.
FUN IS FAR MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE
For a pre-school child, spending time in the gym, the most important ingredient is fun.
Of course this is wonderful for children, but parents often think that if their children
are having fun then learning can't be happening. Nothing could be farther from the
truth. When fun is present, learning comes naturally. We know the formula for success.
Challenge = risk = learning = fun & excitement. Conversely, challenge = risk = failure = fear & anxiety. If children meet with success when faced with new challenges they build their confidence. That confidence allows them to try harder challenges. Learning becomes exciting. Without this model of success, children who fail develop attitudes that say: "I'll never do it", "I can't", "I might as well give up." Our goal is to get your Dipper excited about participating in life's adventures; not contented to be an observer for fear of failure. A healthy attitude about participating leads to lifelong fitness. ~Back to Top~
DIPPER GYMNASTICS CURRICULUM
For over 30 years, Jewart's Gymnastics has been teaching kids in the North Hills to roll, bounce and jump. Our curriculum is based on the nationally certified, KAT, gymnastics pre-school program, which encourages each child to experience skill development at his/her own pace. Through challenges, circuits and progressions we teach skills and develop your child's natural abilities in a safe, fun, nurturing environment. The apparatus is custom designed to fit the abilities of a pre-schooler. Classes are divided by age groupings that allow for gymnastics to be taught to children with similar developmental characteristics.

|
Little Dippers:
18-24 mos A playful parent/tot class centered around age-appropriate activities using modified, tot-sized apparatus. Emphasis is on following group commands and socializing skills.
2 yr old Parent/tot class offering more skilled activity for the two-year old and exposure to more
learning opportunities.
3 yr old Some 3 year olds still need a parent others might not. This class will teach children how to control their body to make skills happen. This class has lots of positive reinforcement and FUN challenges.
4 & 5 yr old These two age groups are on
the move. They are developing skills on all of the apparatus,
they enjoy following direction and they can refine movement
patterns. They understand and appreciate risk. They love trying
new challenges and can handle mistakes as steppingstones to
success. ~Back

Dipper classes will help
your pre-schooler
- develop listening skills
- increase motor development
- improve self-confidence
- develop a joy of learning
|
|
Big Dippers:
5 & 6 yr old Big Dippers are for Kindergarten age students or 5 year olds with experience. School is fun. So is gymnastics. Combined with their scholastic development they are beginning to "shine" at learning. They are ready for more progressive challenges and less general movement. They can add the mental side of training to their skill development and retain corrections.
About our Dipper teachers
The pre-school teachers believe in our program because they have
seen the benefit of gymnastics training first-hand in their own
families. Our staff is especially trained to take care of your pre-schooler's
early childhood needs for physical development. They love teaching
and are convinced that pre-school gymnastics will enhance not only
their athletic abilities but also and give them a head start toward
a healthy lifestyle. We are a family business that believes our
family values add to the learning experience your child gets through
training in our program.

All About Rhythmic Gymnastics
What is Rhythmic Gymnastics?
The sport of Rhythmic Gymnastics combines the grace and musicality of dancing, the hand eye coordination of traditional ball sports and the acrobatics of gymnastics. It's fun for beginners and with sustained practice can be a challenging competitive sport for groups or individuals. Rhythmic gymnastics takes place on the floor exercise mat and uses hand apparatus: ball, hoop, rope, ribbon and clubs. This sport is part of the USAG sanctioned sports for girls. Girls in rhythmic gymnastics learn classical dance fundamentals, skills with the apparatus, acrobatic skills and choreography.
Meet Coach Kamelia
Your daughter will love working with KameliaVelkova. Kamelia received her training in her home country of Bulgaria. This two time national champion and international competitor is happy to be part of the staff here at Jewart's and excited to bring this popular European sport to the North Hills. As head of our rhythmic program she will teach the girls both the fundamental ballet and dance skills along with their apparatus work. This sport builds self-esteem.
