Gymnastics
Our recreation classes for boys and girls, 1st grade and up are called the Lucky Stars. Lucky Stars is an acronym for “Love You Class Kids”. Whereas the Pre-school curriculum is developed around your child’s age, our Lucky Star classes are based on your child’s interest and ability level. Over the years we have expanded our classes to bring fun, fitness, skill development instruction in four related gymnastics disciplines: artistic gymnastics, tumbling, T and T (tumbling and trampoline), and rhythmic gymnastics. First time students or beginner classes are 60 minutes and older school age children or those with experience will be more comfortable in a 90 minute class.
Why join the lucky star program?
As a physical activity, gymnastics is a foundation sport that develops the whole child.
Children are taught skills on the mats and Olympic apparatus that requires them use their muscles to overcome gravity, conquer challenges and perfect technique.
The results are:
- Physical: Core strength, coordination, agility, balance, upper body strength, including grip strength, flexibility, speed and rhythm.
- Mental: Concentration, poise, determination, listening skills and perseverance.
- Social: Confidence, sportsmanship, teamwork, competitiveness, and performance.
What is the philosophy of the Lucky Star Program?
At Jewart’s, we believe that children learn best when they are having fun. Lucky Star teachers strive to bring fun to exercising and learning. We also believe that gymnastic training is the best foundation sport for children to learn so that they will develop a desire to participate in physical activity as part of their lifestyle. When children have general fitness, and body control, it is easier to learn new skills in any activity. When children meet with success they enjoy participating without fear of “winning and losing.” They learn that fun comes from reaching new goals and overcoming obstacles not keeping score. Our goal is to increase your child’s fitness and skill level through the teaching of gymnastics to prepare them for a world of possibilities.
“Develop the individual first, then they will find success in the game.”

What is the Lucky Star Curriculum?
Jewart’s Gymnastics has been teaching boys and girls in the North Hills to flip, bounce and swing for over 40 years. Our curriculum is based on the USAG Jr. Olympic program,
which encourages each child to experience skill development at his/her own pace. Through games, children learn to listen to instructions, develop competitiveness, and sportsmanship. Through circuits and progressions we develop skills in a safe, fun, nurturing environment. Your child will learn basic skills on the apparatus; including tumbling mats, bars, beam, trampoline, vault, rings, and more. As your child spends time in the gym we hope they enjoy gymnastics so much that they want to try it as a competitive sport with the Jewels, NGL or Northstar program.
